LYNN, Mass. -- The Futures Collegiate Baseball League’s North Shore Navigators have added two more position players from Division 1 colleges to their roster for the upcoming 2020 season.

Seton Hall infielder Jonathan Luders, who hails from nearby Lynnfield, and Dartmouth College outfielder Kolton Freeman were introduced as the North Shore club’s two newest members on Thursday. President and General Manager Derek January welcomed the pair of freshmen to the roster on Thursday.

A four-year letterwinner in both baseball and soccer at Lynnfield High, Luders is just beginning his rookie season at Big East Conference program Seton Hall. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound infielder capped off his career as a Pioneer as the Cape Ann League’s 2019 Player of the Year and a Boston Globe All-Scholastic, hitting .450 with 26 runs scored and 32 stolen bases. A two-year captain for Lynnfield, Luders was a three-time CAL and two-time Eastern Massachusetts All-Star who helped the Pioneers to four Division 3 sectional finals appearances and two league championships during his career.

Scouting Report: smart player with lots of energy … can play all over the infield … will be fun to watch … MLB comp: Brock Holt.

Freeman, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound outfielder, will compete in the Ivy League this spring before joining the Navs along with Dartmouth classmates Luke Carpenter and Jack Metzger. The Laguna Beach, Calif., native was his high school team’s captain as a senior and earned Second Team All-League honors twice during his career. He helped Laguna Beach win the California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section championship and played in the Orange County All-Star Game following his final campaign, highlighting the game with a diving catch.

Scouting Report: outstanding hitter with some pop … good outfielder who will play right away at Dartmouth … MLB comp: Chris Taylor.

The Navs are now preparing for the 13th season of collegiate ball at Fraser Field and their ninth in the Futures League. The 2020 opener is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27. Until then, stay up to date on the latest Navs news by visiting nsnavs.com and following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
