End of Regular Season, D3 Tournament Due Up for Navs in College![]() LYNN, Mass. — Here are the latest college baseball highlights for incoming North Shore Navigators players: Nahant native Nick Reiser (Bridgewater State) authored his best game of the season at the perfect time, helping the Bears to their fourth straight MASCAC championship and NCAA Division 3 tournament appearance. In the conference tournament semifinal, Reiser came in relief with the Bears down 6-2 against Salem State and proceeded to throw six shutout innings and allow his team to score 10 unanswered runs and win 12-6. Reiser surrendered just two hits and one walk while striking out six, collecting his second win of the season. Trey Yesu sparked Bridgewater’s playoff run with his own win against the Vikings, pitching six innings of three-run ball with three strikeouts on Thursday. The season is also set to continue in the national tournament for SCIAC Player of the Year Jack Gold (Pomona-Pitzer), whose Sagehens earned an at-large bid after falling just short to La Verne in the championship game. Gold had three hits, including a double, two RBI and six runs scored during the week, including a 2-for-4 performance in last Thursday’s tournament-opening contest against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. His .806 slugging percentage on the season ranks 17th nationally entering postseason play. Returning NECBL All-Star Jesse Jaconski (Penn State) helped the Nittany Lions to their fifth Big Ten series victory at Rutgers last weekend, recording five hits, including a double and a home run, and four runs scored. Jaconski hit safely in all three games in New Jersey and enters the final week of Division 1 regular-season play with three of those in a four-game span. He bookended the series with multi-hit games, homering as part of a 2-for-4 performance in Friday’s 7-5, series-opening win. Jaconski is now Penn State’s leading hitter in Big Ten play with a .357 average. Ethan Wilson (Winthrop) also enjoyed another strong week at the plate. Over the course of four games against The Citadel and Radford, Wilson tallied six hits and scored six runs in the process. He launched his ninth home run of the season during last Wednesday’s midweek game against The Citadel and raised his slugging percentage on the season to exactly .500. Stonehill’s Aidan Sengenberger hit his second homer in as many weeks and finished 2-for-4 on Friday as the Skyhawks began their penultimate NEC series with a 5-2 win over Central Connecticut. The catcher also doubled the following day to finish the weekend with three hits. Sam Parks recorded three hits, three RBI and five runs scored against the Blue Devils, finishing the set with a 2-for-2, two-RBI performance from his usual place atop of the batting order. The North Shore pitching staff includes two recent additions from No. 25 Northeastern, which became nationally ranked by D1Baseball for the first time this season following a CAA weekend sweep of William & Mary. Returning Navigator and North Andover native Ryan Griffin posted scoreless relief for the fourth time in seven outings, stranding two baserunners en route to the Huskies’ 20th consecutive win on Sunday. A day earlier, Navs newcomer Joseph Hauser closed out Saturday’s 15-1 victory with a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Elsewhere in the CAA, Ryan Mealy (Monmouth) helped his team get back in the win column this past week, as the Hawks’ ace threw seven innings against Delaware, striking out six batters while allowing only three wins. Although Mealy did not receive a decision, his team ended up walking off with a 5-4 win in 11 innings. Gloucester’s Zach Morris (Rhode Island) returned to the mound for the first time in a month and pitched a scoreless inning on Sunday, as the first-place Rams completed their second straight Atlantic 10 sweep against Saint Louis. Pitching in two of his team’s three games against MAAC foe Iona, Cole Yennaco (Merrimack) worked 3.1 innings of one-run ball, including a hitless final frame in Sunday’s 5-3, 10-inning win over Iona in the regular-season finale. Also in the bullpen, Oisin Lee (Notre Dame) continued his season of strikeouts with four more across scoreless innings on both Friday and on Sunday against Bowling Green. Lee now has 25 strikeouts in 17 innings this season. good for a 13.2 K/9 ratio. John Whitney (Samford) tossed a scoreless inning during Bulldogs’ SoCon weekend sweep over UNC Greensboro, giving up one hit and striking out one in a 12-2 Friday win. Whitney has put together three consecutive scoreless outings, striking out seven in five innings pitched over that stretch. The Navigators will return to historic Fraser Field and the NECBL for their 18th summer collegiate season in 2025, with first pitch set for Tuesday, June 3 against the Northern Division rival Upper Valley Nighthawks.
