College Baseball Report #2
Below is the second Navs College Baseball Report of the 2026 season. Weekly installments will be posted by Tuesday throughout the spring.
LYNN, Mass. — Here are the latest college baseball highlights for incoming North Shore Navigators players:
High Point's Lane Allen broke out for multiple hits in all four games of the Panthers' series win over Maine, finishing 10-for-19 with three extra-base hits and five RBI. Allen, who is now a .400 hitter for the season, went 3-for-5 with his first home run and two stolen bases in Sunday's 10-7 win for the Panthers. In the same game, Aidan Paul struck out three while allowing only one earned run across a 3.2-inning start.
John Delgado continued his lights-out work out of Dayton's bullpen with back-to-back appearances in a series sweep of Eastern Kentucky. He has yet to allow a run over 4.2 innings this season, striking out five while giving up just two hits. Most recently, the left-hander held the Colonels off the scoreboard for 3.2 frames in a high-scoring Friday game when the Flyers needed it most before recording the final out for a save the next day.
Also at Dayton, Grayson Carpenter turned heads while making his first two career starts in the Eastern Kentucky series. The freshman outfielder went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases and two walks, highlighting his strong debut performance with a pair of doubles in Friday's series-opening, 17-7 victory.
Northwestern catcher Jay Slater stayed hot at the Hub City Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. After the Duke transfer exploded for two homers a week ago at Rice, Slater had a three-hit, three-RBI weekend and now boasts a 1.058 OPS for the season. He was 2-for-5 with two RBI on Friday against Cornell. Slater's batterymate Justin Fryer then tossed 2.2 innings of relief on Sunday against Boston College, earning his first collegiate win in his third appearance.
Peabody's Danati Fronduto (San Jacinto) hit two more homers as part of a 3-for-4, six-RBI performance in the first of a four-game series against Baton Rouge Community College on Thursday. Fronduto now has a 1.396 OPS and a team-leading six homers this season. Also at the NJCAA level, Seven Alemais (Chipola) drove in three runs on two doubles in a 17-2 Sunday win over East Georgia College, giving him a .455 average in seven games on the year.
Lynn's own Josh Doney (UMass Lowell) is another North Shore native who produced for his team for a second straight week. The former St. Mary's standout pitched an inning of relief for the second time in his freshman campaign on Sunday, recording a strikeout while allowing just one hit and one unearned run against Indiana State.
Hudson Ellis (Oral Roberts) enjoyed the most productive game of his young career on Friday, going 4-for-5 with a double, run scored and three RBI to lead the Golden Eagles to a 9-2 win over Abiliene Christian. Ellis has now hit safely in three of his last five games after adding another run-scoring hit in Sunday's series finale.
Pauly Mancino hit safely twice and reached base in all three games of Bowling Green's series at Western Carolina. He had an RBI single and scored another run during Saturday's 6-5 victory. A staple of his squad's starting nine and outfield, Mancino sits at a steady .261 average for the season. Falcon teammate Brady Birchmeier also notched an RBI and scored a run.
With the Ivy League taking the field for the first time in 2026, Tyler Shulman (Harvard) hit a double and scored twice as the Crimson played a three-game set at Tulane. He also kept a strong eye at the plate with four walks, helping the junior reach base at an efficient .462 clip.
Two North Shore relievers recently logged their first outings. Ethan Hunt (New Orleans) tossed a strikeout in one inning of work on Wednesday in a 14-5 rout of Southern, while Cole Yennaco (Merrimack) struck out a pair in an extra-innings duel with fellow returning Navigator Aidan Sengenberger and Seton Hall on Saturday. Sengenberger reached base five times, drove in two runs and scored another across two wins over George Mason and Merrimack.
After making his official collegiate debut last week, Tom Mahoney (Northeastern) pitched in the Huskies' annual Spring Training exhibition game against the Boston Red Sox on Friday. Mahoney recorded the final two outs while surrendering just one base hit.
The first of two Division 3 players on North Shore's preseason roster debuted last Wednesday, as John Milewski (Brandeis) struck out five over the first 4.2 innings of an eventual win over CCNY. The two runs Milewski was charged with came after he exited the game, as he helped the Judges to their second of four straight wins.
The Navigators will return to historic Fraser Field and the NECBL for their 19th summer season in 2026, with first pitch set for Friday, June 5. Stay up to date on the latest Navs news by visiting nsnavs.com and following the team on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
