Navs Post Clutch Hits, Pitching Wins in First Week of April
College Baseball Report #8
Below is the eighth Navs College Baseball Report of the 2026 season. Weekly installments will be posted by Tuesday throughout the spring.
LYNN, Mass. — Here are the latest college baseball highlights for incoming North Shore Navigators players:
Hudson Ellis delivered Saturday's eventual game-winning hit to help his Oral Roberts squad sweep its third consecutive Summit League series against Northern Colorado. The redshirt freshman shortstop hit an RBI double in the seventh inning to give the Golden Eagles a 3-2 lead that they held to win by the same score. Ellis finished the weekend with hits in each of the three games and scored a run in two of them.
High Point's Lane Allen continues to have a strong season, adding six more hits and two stolen bases this past weekend against Charleston. He went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored during a 14-0 win on Saturday. Although the Panthers' 11-game winning streak finally came to an end on Sunday, they remain in good form and Allen is a big reason why. He has also yet to commit an error defensively.
Two of Dayton's future Navigators made an impact in an Atlantic 10 series against Fordham, with outfielder Grayson Carpenter blasting the first home run of his collegiate career in Friday's 5-3 win while hitting safely in all three games. Carpenter has also shown incredible plate discipline this season, drawing 18 walks and striking out just seven times in 85 at-bats so far. Lefty John Delgado provided the Flyers with incredible length in Sunday's narrow 5-4 loss, striking out seven batters in a season-best 7.1 innings.
Byfield native and Governor's Academy product Hunter Kingsbury put together yet another impressive week for Bryant. He totaled five base hits, one of which was a triple in Saturday's rubber game of the series, and knocked in a run on Friday. With stolen bases in back-to-back games, he is second among all incoming Navigators with 10 on the season.
Staying local, Peabody's own Danati Fronduto closed his weekend for San Jacinto with a bang. In the back end of a Friday doubleheader against Alvin, he went 3-for-6 with three RBI to help the Gators to a 19-8 win. Fronduto's .390 average with nine homers and 37 RBI in 31 games this spring continues to lead North Shore's roster.
It was a consistent weekend for Hofstra shortstop Michael Brown, who recorded a base hit in all three games against Towson to maintain a steady .352 average. Two hits came in the Pride's Friday victory, and he also scored twice and recorded his fourth stolen base across the week. Also in the CAA, Simmi Whitehill and his Monmouth team were in Boston this weekend to battle rival Northeastern, and the returning Navigator went 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the Hawks' 8-6 win on Saturday.
Northwestern's Jay Slater never disappointed from the plate, nabbing five hits across the past week's four games and securing at least one in every contest. He also batted two runs in and had a 2-for-4 effort during a Saturday win over Big Ten rival Michigan State, helping the Wildcats go 3-1 across the week. On the mound, lefty Justin Fryer pitched 1.1 innings to earn Sunday's series-clinching win after closing a 13-9 victory with a strikeout for his first save of the season on Tuesday against Valpo.
North Shore veteran John Milewski also had a winning weekend on the mound for Brandeis, throwing 4.2 innings of one-run ball Sunday against Chicago. He sports a 4.19 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 19.1 frames on the season.
Bowling Green's Pauly Mancino hit two crucial sacrifice flies that each drove in a run in a Friday win over Akron. His distance helped the Falcons extend their advantage to 9-6 late in the seventh inning, and they never relinquished it.
With Harvard down 1-0 to Brown in the first leg of a Saturday doubleheader, second baseman Tyler Shulman invigorated his squad with life. In the bottom of the eighth, he scored the game-tying run. An inning later, Shulman sent in a run off a sacrifice fly for the walk-off RBI.
The Navigators will return to historic Fraser Field and the NECBL for their 19th summer season in 2026, with first pitch set for Friday, June 5. Stay up to date on the latest Navs news by visiting nsnavs.com and following the team on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
