Complete Games Thrown, Roster Newcomers Shine
College Baseball Report #11
Below is the 11th Navs College Baseball Report of the 2026 season. Weekly installments will be posted by Tuesday throughout the spring.
LYNN, Mass. — Here are the latest college highlights for the team's incoming players:
Three future Navs were big reasons why Dayton swept St. Bonaventure in Atlantic 10 play. Among them is a new addition to the North Shore roster in Jason Bello. The third baseman put together another strong week, posting four hits and five RBI including his team-leading 13th home run of the season in last Tuesday's midweek game against Bellarmine. Bello then hit a go-ahead, two-run triple to help the Flyers finish off a sweep on Sunday.
Also with the Flyers, John Delgado tossed a seven-inning complete game to lead the Flyers to an 8-0 win in the first game of a Sunday doubleheader. The southpaw allowed just two hits, zero runs and punched out seven en route to his second win. Outfielder Grayson Carpenter collected four hits, two RBI and three more runs scored last week, posting hits in all three weekend games against the Bonnies. He has only struck out 14 times in 126 at-bats on the season, good for an 11 percent strikeout percentage.
Longwood pitcher Cam Freeman is another North Shore newcomer who made an impact on his team's last week, pitching 1.1 shutout innings on Friday against Binghamton. The junior righty only conceded one hit and struck out two across six batters faced. Freeman has been reliable out of the Lancers' bullpen with a 4.91 ERA, which ranks fourth among their regular relievers.
Ahead of a Big South series against Freeman's Longwood squad this coming weekend, High Point's Aidan Paul wrapped up a series sweep of VMI with his first complete game as a Panther. Paul struck out six and allowed just two runs on six hits and zero walks during the seven-inning contest. It was his fifth win of the season, which is the most among incoming Navigators. Lane Allen continued his unbelievable spring for the Panthers, tallying another double and homer to help his team to a 7-5 win in Friday's series opener against VMI. Allen now boasts 20 total extra-base hits on the season.
Danny Leikus appears to be getting hot at the right time for Rhode Island as he posted his second consecutive impressive week. The catcher ripped his second home run in a six-game span while going 2-for-5 in Friday's 12-2, series-opening victory at Saint Louis. He finished with hits in two of the three games.
Northwestern's Jay Slater delivered key performances against Big Ten rival Minnesota over the weekend. He had two hits apiece on Friday and Sunday, three of which were doubles. However, his lone hit on Saturday was the biggest one — a three-run home run to left field to put the Wildcats up a run in the eighth.
Shortstop Michael Brown has been Hofstra's backbone all season, and he remained a model of consistency with at least a hit and an RBI in three of his four games last week. Brown, who has a team-leading .318 average, went 2-for-5 with an RBI double and two runs scored to help the Pride to a 13-2 win on Sunday at Northeastern.
Staying in the CAA, Monmouth's Simmi Whitehill went 2-for-4 with three RBI and his fifth homer of the season in last Tuesday's win over LIU. He hit safely in three of the Hawks' four games last week, totaling a pair of extra-base hits and four RBI to run his season total to a team-high 37.
Like the Pride has with Brown, Harvard has leaned on Jack Rickheim as its top hitter, securing a .321 average. The North Shore returnee heated up as of late, recording hits in all four of the Crimson's games and at least three in two of them. Rickheim began a Saturday twinbill against Penn with two homers and four RBI, and the shortstop's hit streak sits at a season-best 12 straight games. The following day, teammate Tyler Shulman had two RBI on a single in the ninth inning, bolstering Harvard's comeback from down 7-0 to within one run.
Sunday was a busy day for Merrimack's Cole Yennaco. Not only did the North Shore veteran throw an inning in his third consecutive scoreless appearance on the mound, but he hit his first collegiate home run and another RBI single to help the Warriors past Marist in their MAAC series finale.
As the Division 3 postseason begins, Bowdoin's Conor Moriarty matched his season-high three RBI in Sunday's NESCAC regular-season finale against Colby. He drove in four runs on the week. John Milewski pitched Brandeis to its third straight win in a four-game series against Emory last weekend, allowing just two runs on five hits en route to improve to 3-1 on the season.
The Navigators will return to historic Fraser Field and the NECBL for their 19th summer season in 2026, with first pitch set for Friday, June 5. Stay up to date on the latest Navs news by visiting nsnavs.com and following the team on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
